Polyethylene Pipes

Polyethylene Pipes

Polyethylene pipe or PE is used for pressurised gas (yellow), potable (blue) and foul water (black) applications and is available in coils and straight lengths, both of which are manufactured to EN12201-2.

For smaller sizes (20mm to 63mm) the material typically used is MDPE or PE80. This provides a corrosion free, lightweight system which is also chemical and abrasion resistant. This product is generally available in coils which, as well as being easy to install, allow flexibility to cope with ground movement. Some sizes can be produced in lengths if required, our sales office will be able to provide more information. MDPE (PE80) is also the preferred material for gas mains of all sizes.

The material used to manufacture blue or black pipes at 90mm or above is generally HPPE or PE100. This is a stronger and denser product than PE80. The sizes range from 90mm all the way up to 1200mm if required, with SDR (Standard Dimensional Ratio) options to suit different pressure requirements (a high SDR denotes a lower pressure rated pipe). Coils are available up to 180mm, however lengths are available in all diameters.
